The National LGB&T Partnership have been commissioned by Public Health England to produce a toolkit for public health nurses to reduce the healthcare inequalities experienced by LGBT communities.
This toolkit will be an e-learning resource, designed to support the development of knowledge and skills for public health nurses in relation to the specific health needs of LGBT communities. This may include health visitors, district nurses, Macmillan nurses, primary school nurses and wider healthcare professionals. The resource will contain learning modules designed to support health professionals to meet the needs of specific groups in the community (such as children and young people, and older people) as well as on wider themes such as mental health, sexual health, substance misuse, and long term conditions.
All modules are designed to be clear, concise and easy to read. The learning will fit within the context of existing work, endeavouring to share concise best practice on different topics while giving links and easy access to further information.
The toolkit will go live at the end of March 2018 so watch this space for further information.
